6 House Cleaning Tips - How to Clean a House Faster and More Efficiently

These are great house cleaning tips that hopefully will help you get the job done faster and better than you may have been doing before.

Who likes house cleaning? Not me, and that is why I wrote this article because I love a clean house, I just don't like doing it. My desire to be doing something else other than cleaning means I have mastered the art of cleaning fast, efficiently and with great results. Check out these tips and see if your cleaning chores get done better and faster so that you can get out and have some fun too!

1. How to clean a room properly is the greatest tip. Start cleaning from top to bottom. More importantly, start dusting at the point highest and further away from the doorway of a room. Dust downwards to the floor. When you have cleaned everything in the room, as you have worked your way back to the door, pull out the vacuum and give the floor a clean.

2. Use clean cloths and cleaning tools each time you start to clean. The best idea is to clean all your cleaning tools at the end of each cleaning session. I know this is probably not what you feel like doing right now, but it makes starting your job next time so much better.

3. I love this tip! When cleaning with your cloths fold them in quarters before starting any cleaning task because when one side gets dirty refold it and start again with a clean side. So many people (me included before) scrunch up their cleaning cloths and before you know it dirt is being transferred back onto what you are trying to clean!

4. Lamb's wool dusters are great for those areas where some extra effort can be used. Places like walls, baseboards and wooden blinds.

5. When dusting walls or sides of furniture, dust downwards towards the floor as the dust will fall there and will be picked up by the vacuum. If lamb's wool dusters fill with dust, just give it a hit against your other hand and the dust will fall for vacuuming up at the end of the room cleaning.

6. There may be some surfaces where you can actually vacuum the dust up but to do this make sure that the suction control hole is open as this will reduce the suction at the end of the hose. These areas could be furniture, heavy curtains and the like.

I know many people will dust through a house and then go back and vacuum the house but what happens so many times is that the house gets half cleaned, an interruption occurs, and before you know it, the house didn't finish getting cleaned.

Using the house cleaning tips listed above, and completely cleaning one room at a time, will mean that should you get interrupted in your cleaning chores, at least you will know that particular rooms are finished. It is just a matter then of picking up where you left off knowing that the previous rooms were completely cleaned.
