scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Money'/>
Mad Money

Take three women in need of cash, a slew of money about to be shredded, and a plot that nicks a bit from 2005's Fun with Dick and Jane and you've got Mad Money. Diane Keaton stars as Bridget, a stay-at-home wife whose life as she knows it ends when her husband loses his cushy, high-paying job. Her college degree in literature turns out to be useless, so she accepts a janitorial position at the local bank. There she meets Nina (Queen Latifah) and Jackie (Katie Holmes), who could use some spare scratch as well. Suddenly, it dawns on Bridget that the bank has plenty of what they need: money! Because the gals are so cute and nice, it's clear they're not really going to rob the bank. What they will do, though, is take the old bills headed for the shredder and recycle it back into the economy by spending it. (Oh heck, they're basically stealing the money.) Played for laughs, the movie doesn't bother to discuss the economic ramifications of what would happen if too much money was recirculated, but that's neither here nor there. The trio of personable actors--particularly Keaton--does a good job of making the characters likable, even in some unbelievable situations. But Keaton deserves better than Mad Money, which isn't really funny enough to be a comedy and doesn't have enough romance to qualify as good chick flick. Still, Keaton, Latifah and Holmes share warm camaraderie. It'd be fun to see them reunited in a film that had a little more weight to it. Ironically, Mad Money was directed by directed by Callie Khouri, who wrote Thelma & Louise and Something to Talk About--movies that had all the key components (compelling storyline and characters worth cheering on) that Mad Money is lacking. --Jae-Ha Kim
<span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">
<span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">

Stills from Mad Money (Click for larger image)
The currently competing version is missing Lily Pons's "Vocalise" (Rachmaninoff) and more than half of Bruno Walter's Meistersinger prelude. Moreover, although that version announces Rise Stevens in "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" (Samson et Dalila), it omits the selection and jumps to the next one. The Bel Canto Society version includes these selections complete and all others.

The Bel Canto Society version has PCM audio, with the transfer from analog to digital using the Lavry Gold converter. They don't look much alike, but Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, who both appeared opposite Tom Hanks in Charlie Wilson's War, offer convincing, heartfelt performances as Albuquerque sisters who barely get along (all the more impressive considering Blunt's upper-crust British credentials). Single mother and former cheerleader Rose (Adams), the optimistic and semi-responsible one, cleans houses for a living. Norah (Blunt), the pessimistic and irresponsible one, lives with their father, Joe (Arkin), a loving grandfather and lousy salesman, and attempts to earn her keep as a waitress. When both women find themselves in need of a quick influx of cash, Rose convinces Norah to join her as a crime-scene cleaner, a job her married, police-officer lover (an underused Steve Zahn) assures her pays well. He's right, but the ladies find the work even more emotionally demanding than physically repulsive, especially once they become entangled with Lynn (24's Mary Lynn Rajskub), a lonely blood-bank worker, and Winston (Capote's Clifton Collins Jr.), a one-armed cleaning-supply salesman. Megan Holley's script may be a mite overstuffed, but the pace never lags, and Christine Jeffs' follow-up to Sylvia packs an emotional punch that Little Miss Sunshine--arguably, the funnier film--lacked, even if the Oscar-winning Arkin plays a similarly unconventional grandfather figure. Then again: few do it better. --Kathleen C. But no matter how one manages to clean the house every week; dust, dirt, and grime can really accumulate far easily, calling a need to duster up and sweep almost everyday in order to achieve a spic and span abode. However, not everybody has the time to just stay in his or her house and clean all day, not even those who are obsessive-compulsive for cleanliness. For this very reason, the idea of getting house cleaning services was conceived. These services can be the perfect solution for those filth problems not only for busy people but also for moms who have several children to care for, for the elders who are too weak to even hold a broom, and for those millionaires who need to get their mansions maintained.

A house cleaning company is the best firm to contact if one is in need of some quality housekeeping or maid services. Here are some reasons why one should take the action of contracting this type of company:

Team cleaning. Some house cleaning service companies will not send just one or two persons to tackle all the household chores - this is too time consuming and energy draining. To make the most out of cleaning, a house cleaning company will send out a team of house cleaners who are very much trained to clean almost any type of surface. Through team cleaning, there's more productivity and satisfaction!
Professional Cleaners. Another advantage of contracting a cleaning company is that it sends out employees or cleaners who are specially trained to clean almost any kind of floor, furniture, window, and room the right way! Take note that with all the different types of floors out there, a different manner of cleaning should also be adopted. This is also true for furniture; some figurines and lampshades need some special kind of cleanser or manner of cleaning so as not to damage it. The trained cleaners that a cleaning company will provide know all these things and manners of cleaning. They can wash, cleanse, wipe, sponge, scrub, mop, rinse, scour, swab, hose down, sluice down, disinfect and many more! That's right, they've all taken up Cleaning 101 classes!
High-end Cleaning Equipments. House cleaning service companies spend thousands just to invest in quality cleaning materials such as vacuums and modern dusters that deliver superb dirt removal. And by getting a cleaning company, one can have the same superb dirt removal without buying these equipments anymore.
Health Matters. There are some people who are allergic to their house. Well, not literally to their house but to the allergens found in it such as dust and dirt. This is called as indoor allergy. Getting allergies within one's house is a frustrating experience, but alas - a cleaning company may have the answer to end those allergy attacks. Cleaning services will not only clean one's house; it will also remove all the dirt within it. Plus, house cleaners also use vacuums with a special filtrating system that capture dust, bacteria, pet dander, pollutants and allergens found in the air! Yes, this is one way of preventing not only allergies but also flu attacks.

With all these positive things that a house cleaning service can offer, there's no doubt that calling a cleaning company is the next thing to do!

Georgia's Cleaning, MA house cleaning company serves all Norfolk and Middlesex county and has a lot of experience and references in the area. House cleaner in MA available all year round.

11 Benefits of Starting a House Cleaning Business

One of the biggest fears people have about starting a house cleaning business is the fear of having no real security. But for natural entrepreneurs, security comes from designing your own life. My partner Ev and I discovered that we could create security when we put forth the effort to call our own shots and make key business decisions that made sense for our lives. Starting a house cleaning business has helped us achieve real security.

We started a house cleaning business over nine years ago. Although our schedules are now brimming with other creative commitments, we continue to clean houses and offices because the pay is excellent, it gives us the free time we need to pursue our personal goals, and we like it.

When I first joined Ev as he started a house cleaning business I had no idea what I was getting into, but I loved the idea of working for myself. Two things were bothering me a little. First, I was concerned with job security. Second, I secretly doubted my basic cleaning skills. Cleaning had always seemed like drudgery and I wondered if my skills were up to par with the pros. Ev guaranteed that cleaning would give me time to spend the way I wanted. I was ready to take a leap of faith, so I decided to try it.

I made three discoveries:

Cleaning is not drudgery when you're getting paid well to do it.

Leaving behind neat, clean rooms is quite satisfying.

Not having a boss is fantastic.

I also discovered a new use for my research and investigative skills. Because I was determined to rank up there with the best of the professionals, I began to research cleaning tips and as a result, learned how to clean just about anything. Best of all, our diligence and excellent service has provided genuine job security all along.

Why do we think starting a house cleaning business is a great idea? Here's eleven reasons why:

1. Unlimited income potential

You can grow your house cleaning business as big as you want. Many recent entrepreneurs have built up their house cleaning businesses up to 100k a year within one year. Try that with a JOB (just over broke). Cleaning franchises are booming nationwide, but franchises are a bad deal for the want-to-be professional cleaner. You go massively into debt before you even get started. Franchises are highly appropriate for oil lube shops and Internet cafes because those are expensive and complicated businesses, cleaning is not.

2. Start bringing in money within two weeks

You can discover interested clients within days. You can be giving quotes within a week. You can have jobs by week two. You can have a full-force house cleaning business within a few months.

3. Start on a shoestring budget

You can start a house cleaning business for well under $100. This business is one of the best for inexpensive start-ups. Believe it or not you can even start without a vacuum or a car. We did!

4. Be your own boss

Absolutely my favorite reason for starting a house cleaning business. My inner compass just tells me that being my own boss is taking me in the right direction. I'm sure you can relate. Nothing quite compares to the pride and excitement of calling the shots and being in charge of your own destiny. This is what America is all about, right? What is stopping you? Sure, you'll make mistakes, we all make them. But no one is going to scold you and you'll learn from your mistakes. Besides, as another entrepreneur once said, we have the most sympathetic boss in the world -ourselves!

5. Set your own hours

We love this aspect of starting a house cleaning business even more than being our own boss. We take days off when we want and as often as we can get away with. Try that with a JOB (just over broke). We find that we each work smarter instead of harder because we're able to tap into our natural sense of responsibility. When you're empowered to take charge of your own schedule you take more pride in the work you do.

6. Get paid everyday

This is my second favorite benefit. It's really cool. Every day we get at least one check if not several. You won't stress out about paying your bills on time. No waiting two weeks or a month to get paid. This makes your personal accounting system less stressful and a whole lot more enjoyable and even downright fun.

7. Cleaning is easy work, not technical or complicated

If you prefer to use your brainpower on genuinely creative, significant pursuits, or even if you don't, starting a house cleaning business won't drain your brain.

8. Professional cleaning is not emotionally or mentally exhausting

This is Ev's favorite part of starting a house cleaning business. Ev initially started a house cleaning business because he was frustrated with how emotionally draining his JOB was, making it very difficult for him to pursue his creative endeavors. He was tired a lot of the time and just couldn't get motivated. Within weeks of starting his first house cleaning business he was realizing a lifelong desire to compose music. He now has seven CDs of music published. Ev and I built a house ourselves with the free time and free mental space afforded by our part time house cleaning business.

9. Choose who you work with

Number two favorite on Ev's list. There has always been that one person that made life at work less than enjoyable if not a complete drag. Can you relate? If we discover we don't exactly click with a client, we have a system for replacing them within one week, sometimes sooner. You'll never feel trapped with an unwanted associate again.

10. Work close to home

No long commute, no commute at all if you prefer. There is plenty of work near you, we drive maybe ten miles a day, we do 80% of our work in one neighborhood. When Ev started his first house cleaning business he rode his bike and took public transportation to his clients' homes and offices. With a little foresight and planning, you can clean with no supplies of your own. We have met several other cleaners who work by bike and on foot as well.

11. Start additional cleaning services

You can add in any of a dozen additional cleaning services to maximize your profits. Carpet cleaning, steam cleaning, house sitting, pet sitting and plantscaping are all natural outgrowths of starting a cleaning business. You can mix house cleaning with office cleaning, or window cleaning with house cleaning, or for variety do all three.

Starting a house cleaning business may not be glamorous, but because we did it, Ev and I have gained free time to do what we want to do, lowered our stress levels, become more productive and happier, and we make a good living. For people with a sense of independence and a creative spirit, starting a house cleaning business is a wonderful way to provide yourself with genuine security.

This article was adapted from the newly revised and improved edition of Suzanne Arthur's ebook, Start Your Own House Cleaning Business. With the proliferation of house cleaning services around, prices have gotten cheaper.

Prices can be charged based on the number of rooms available, the square footage, or the time taken to clean. In addition, most house cleaning services will give you a discount if you are their regular customer.

What does house cleaning consist of? A typical house cleaning service will do the following:

Vacuuming of the floors
Dusting of furniture, shelves, and any other flat surface on which you might keep things
Scrubbing the sink, and floors

Various services will offer different things. Some will clean the dishes, and some will do up your bed. You must find out from each service for the specific things that they will do. The cleaning service brings everything that is necessary for the house cleaning including the Vacuum cleaner, the cleaning solution, and the necessary brushes.

In addition, there are some heavy tasks that will not be included in the regular house cleaning, but will be available for a price. These will include deep cleaning of the kitchen, as well as defrosting the refrigerator, cleaning the baseboards, and cleaning out the oven.

Typical Prices.

Your typical house with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom should have a cleaning price tag of between $75-$200, depending on the service, and what they offer. The price scales up more or less proportionately with the size of the house.

This comes to around $0.08 - $0.22 per sq. foot of house cleaning. The price can change depending on the actual condition of your house. The price will increase if you have pets as well. For specific cleaning tasks like cleaning out the refrigerator, the prices should be around $25.

Regular cleaning means that the prices charged can drop by as much as 30%. This is so, not only because it means regular business, but also because the house is easier to clean if it has been cleaned recently. In addition, the cleaning staff will be familiar with your home.

Benefits of House cleaning.

The average person isn't aware of the proper ways in which to clean certain areas like the bathroom, or hardwood floors. If you try and clean your tiles intuitively using Vinegar for example, you risk loosening the grout between your tiles.

When you hire a professional service to clean your home, you ensure that you're home is getting the care that it deserves. A properly maintained home's value on the market increases as well, though the increased hygiene, and aesthetic value might be enough persuasion for you to engage a professional.

Jaworski Cleaning
41735 Oberlin Elyria Road
Elyria, Ohio 44035
http://www.housecleaningohio.com
866-874-2114

Steps to Be Adhered in House Cleaning

There is a saying "Cleanness is next to Godliness" so keeping our house and environment clean gives an energy to body and mind. It can be even more daunting and tiresome when we are not effectively organized in our cleaning methods. A house cleaning list is one of a few different tools that we can use to get better organized, goal oriented, and more effective when cleaning house overall.

The purpose of a cleaning list is simply to help us not have to remember what needs to be cleaned, and when something needs to be cleaned. All cleaning requirements around the house are suggested by professionals, based upon what they are, to be taken care of on a daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and yearly basis. When we create a complete list of all the cleaning requirements for our home, organized based upon their time requirements, we have effectively created for ourselves a cleaning list that will serve us for as long as we will be cleaning house.

I often find in many cases that people clean their homes based upon how dirty they realize an area has become. The problem with this approach is once an area is cleaned, we let the area sit until it becomes dirty again. The length of time it takes for a specific area to get dirty always varies, so it's indeterminable when the area should actually be cleaned. The usefulness of the cleaning list really comes through in this respect. A cleaning list will be able to tell you exactly when any area of the house needs to be cleaned. And if you continue to follow a cleaning list you will be able to cut down the length of time it normally takes you to clean house.

Let's follow a simple example so that I can illustrate for you the process and way this works. Let's use the Bathroom for example. In my own household the bathroom was a room that was cleaned anywhere from a few weeks to a few months after it had been cleaned. When I began using a cleaning list, it showed me to clean my bathroom at least once every week. When I started cleaning the bathroom according to my list I realized the bathroom afterward always seemed to stay clean and very seldom got extremely dirty. It didn't accumulate much dirt and didn't require much effort on my part when it was time for its weekly scrub down. The amount of time that I normally spent in the bathroom ranged anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour. Once I began using a cleaning list my time was drastically cut to about 10 to 15 minutes. Talk about a time saver!

What's great about following a cleaning list is that it opens up the usefulness of another tool - a Cleaning Schedule. A cleaning schedule and cleaning list go hand-in-hand; like two peas in a pod. Although a cleaning list and schedule can be used separately, if you're going to use one you might as well use the other. The list is really the preliminary step to using a cleaning schedule; it sets up and organizes all the information you will need - then you just plug it in and voila! This will effectively set you up so that all your cleaning chores are labeled and listed accordingly in a daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and yearly basis category. All that will be required of you is to stay consistent. Once we fail in our consistency the whole process begins to tumble and we fall back into bad habits.

In order to make our lives easier when it comes to house cleaning I highly advise looking into creating a cleaning list and schedule to serve you when cleaning house. These two tools when used together create a powerful solution to save us time and energy when cleaning our house. These tools alone also guarantee long-term effectiveness that can last as long as we want as long as we are consistent when using them.

Debra Marks is a House Cleaning expert and author. Whether your lifestyle is too busy to allow you to clean as regularly as you'd like, you want to clean for a special occasion, or you're getting ready to move, a professional could be just the thing you need. However, professional house cleaning services can also get expensive. While they're often worth the price, it's important to know in advance how much you'll end up paying for your service. Here's a rough guide to house cleaning rates, depending on what you need cleaned and how often.

Every house or apartment is different, so you'll find that your house cleaning prices will be based on a number of things. These include how big your home is, whether you're having it cleaned just once or on a regular basis, how often regular cleaning will occur, how many people live there, the number of bathrooms and the number of pets, and similar factors.

Larger cleaning companies will use a standardized formula to calculate your estimate. Smaller companies may not have a system this formalized. Commonly, cleaning franchises charge about seventy-five dollars per hour to have two people clean for two hours. Two hours is often the minimum visit, but this rule may vary between cleaning services.

If you're having cleaning done regularly, you'll find that the first visit often costs more than visits that happen later. That's because additional cleaning may need to be done at first. The initial visit may be priced by the hour, and your estimate will be a range, rather than a specific price. If more time is needed than the estimate includes, expect the cleaning company to contact you for authorization.

If you choose regularly scheduled visits, you'll probably be charged a flat fee per visit, with notifications if this needs to be increased. Regular cleaning usually costs less per visit than one-time cleaning and initial visits, and house cleaning rates vary depending on how often you want cleaning to be done. Popular house cleaning schedules include weekly, bi-weekly, bi-monthly and monthly cleaning. Some people have their homes professionally cleaned only for special occasions and holidays.

A one time cleaning of a two bedroom apartment (five rooms, nine hundred square feet), might cost anywhere between seventy five dollars and two hundred dollars. This house cleaning price will depend on how much work the service needs to do in order to get the apartment up to their standards. A single story home with seven rooms, at about thirteen hundred square feet, could cost anywhere between one and three hundred dollars, with a two story home over two thousand square feet averaging one hundred fifty to four hundred dollars for a one time cleaning.

If those homes were cleaned on a bi-weekly basis, their prices will change. The apartment might cost between sixty and one hundred twenty-five dollars, the single story home between eighty and one hundred and fifty, and the two story home between one hundred and two hundred dollars per visit. Regular cleaning usually secures a significant discount. You may also encounter services that offer package deals - three, five, or seven hour one time services for your area and type of home. House cleaning prices will vary by the area, too. Different parts of the country have different average home sizes and cleaning times, changing how much a service costs.

Typical services include dusting, vacuuming and scrubbing counter tops, sinks, floors and the hood over the stove. However, doing the dishes by hand, picking up items left on the floor, and other services won't be done, and must be performed before the cleaning service gets there.

Some services will change bed linen and load dishwashers, and they generally provide all their own tools and cleaning products. Cleaning windows and walls is not usually included, and cleaning an oven or refrigerator can add about twenty-five dollars to your bill. Dusting blinds and other surfaces will also be an additional fee.

Professional house cleaning can be necessary for many reasons, and is a great choice in many situations. However, it's important to know what you'll be paying going in - after all, no one likes to be surprised with a large bill. Find out well in advance whether you'll be paying a little or a lot for your cleaning.

Mr. Borjas started investing in Real Estate 7 years ago. Sure, it will cost, but it can be a great economic investment since it saves you time, makes sure your home is healthy, and ensures that your home is a good reflection of you.

Visit http://www.jamarhouses.com/Articles/Articles.html for additional house cleaning tips.

Mr. Borjas started investing in Real Estate 7 years ago. For the rest of us, we are just doing the best we can to keep up, but would really benefit from a visit from the house cleaning fairy. Since this probably isn't going to happen, the next best thing I can give you is the cleaning fairy's house cleaning checklist. Armed with a list of when and how frequently certain jobs should be performed, you will be less overwhelmed and able to clean your house quickly and easily.

Let's start with the daily house cleaning checklist. The goal here is not to overwhelm you, but done regularly, these tasks will be easier to conquer in small doses instead of waiting for them go get out of hand. In the kitchen, clear off the counters, wash dishes or load into the dishwasher, wipe spills off the stove-top, and sweep the floor. Next, conquer paper clutter. Get and sort the mail, put homework and other daily papers in their rightful place, recycle all junk mail and old papers. In the bathroom, hang up towels, put dirty clothes into the hamper, and clear off counters (a bin for each person is a great way to do this easily). Remove clothes immediately at the end of the drying cycle, fold and put away. This one thing will prevent ironing later! Throw all toys into bins. Make beds.

Here are the chores for the weekly house cleaning checklist. Dust all shelves, furniture, and accessories. Vaccum and damp-mop all floors in the house. In the bathroom clean the shower/bath, toilet, sink and fixtures. Spray and clean the mirrors and metal finishes in your home. In the kitchen, clean appliance fronts, and wipe countertop appliances. Clean the inside of the microwave and scrub the stove-top. Open the fridge and get rid of old leftovers. Change and wash bed linens. Clean the TVs and computer monitors. Sweep walkways in the garage

Monthly, wash dirty walls, clean handprints off doors, and wipe down woodwork.Vaccuum upholstered furniture, especially under cushions. Dust mini-blinds. Polish wood furniture and clean/condition leather furniture. In the kitchen, clean the inside of the refrigerator and oven, and vacuum and wipe down the inside of often used drawers. Wash comforters, bedspreads and mattress covers and flip your mattress over. Dust ceiling fans and change the filters in your heating or air unit. Give your garage a good sweep.

Here is the house cleaning checklist to use twice a year. Dry clean feather comforters. Wash draperies. Vacuum behind bedroom furniture, beneath beds, and all closets. In the kitchen, clean the insides of all cabinets and drawers. Clean under and beside the refrigerator and vacuum coils. Wash around, under and behind washer and dryer, and clean out dryer vents. Change batteries in your smoke alarm. Deep clean the garage, putting away all holiday décor.

Wash curtains and drapes, clean blinds
Dry clean down comforters
Vacuum under beds and behind dressers
Vacuum inside closets
Dust refrigerator coils, vacuum/wash space around fridge
Wipe out inside of cabinets and drawers
Pull out washing machine and wash walls and floor around washer/dryer
Vaccuum back of dryer, clean out dryer vent
Replace batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide monitors
Clean garage, store seasonal items in bins on shelves
Have carpeted stairs professionally cleaned and scotch-guarded

Annual House Cleaning Checklist

Have furnace/air conditioner cleaned
Clean carpets or rugs
Clean upholstered furniture
Go through toys and clothing - give away or sell unwanted items

Use Daylight Savings or Change of Seasons to Remember Items on your House Cleaning Checklist

Schedule tasks you perform twice or 4 times a year to dates already on your calendar. For example, change your smoke alarm batteries when you turn your clocks behind and ahead, or clean your ceiling fans on the first day of a new season. You get the idea!

For more about using a kitchen cleaning checklist and for more information about my very special brand of speed cleaning visit us at: http://www.speedcleaningsolution.com

House Cleaning Tips For Busy Lifestyles

If you want some house cleaning tips or advice, then here are a few simple important house cleaning tips for those of us that find our time somewhat stretched, or those of us, that procrastinate over house cleaning, and allow it to mount up steadily, until it is something we do not want to face. The secret to getting a neat and clean house, and not have to be confronted with a mammoth cleaning task is to clean a bit here and there. A little bit each day will result in ones housekeeping not becoming a pain, or a job you just cannot face.

Here are my top house cleaning tips for busy lives.

Set your Sights on the Main Cleaning Requirements

One will find there will always be crucial jobs, take for instance, cleaning the bathroom or attending to the vacuuming. Inevitably there will be roles that would be good to attend to when the chance arises, such as, sorting out the kitchen cabinets and de-cluttering. Target on the important roles immediately.

Balance How Much Time You Your Hectic Work Schedule and Busy Life can Offer.

I think that you might be surprised how much can be achieved in a busy persons schedule. A brief undertaking, or a stolen spare moment to wipe the kitchen surfaces, or run round with the vacuum, is sometimes all that is required. The odd moment here and there soon mounts up. I think it is crucial that a good house cleaner has a Home Cleaning Schedule and knock of the list items on a regular basis. Do not feel bad if you do not abide to the schedule like a robot. There will always be unplanned for occurrences that arise. Put your mind on what home cleaning tasks you can, and try to be consistent and regular.

Delegate Tasks

If you have a family, then help is at hand. You could do far worse than showing children how to be clean and tidy, and showing them how to make up the beds will not just help a little bit, but will instil in them an essential lesson for life. It is advisable to think along the lines of, the older the kid, the more important the job you can give them. A little bribery goes a long way to.

Do Not Procrastinate

Stick to the task once you begin a housekeeping cleaning task. Complete what you started with in the first place before you move on to the next task.

Double Up and Multitask

Have you been waiting for a taxi to arrive or thinking what to do next with nothing of any significance to do or say while on the phone. Why not quickly go over the kitchen worktops in that time. Collect discarded clothes of laundry as the opportunity presents itself in the home.

Get The Family Involved

Where the opportunity arises section off windows of time every seven days, then get the family roped in to hep out with your cleaning duties. Collate a breakdown of the jobs that have to be done, then dish them out. Everyone has to join in that specific window of time or allocated period. It will not take long to finish, and you will end up with a very clean home in a very quick period.

Attend to Spills and Stains As Soon As Possible

There will always be those situations when someone or something spills something on your beautiful carpet, or in the kitchen. Address it right at that moment and do something about it immediately. This will mean that you can reduce any staining, while dealing with the situation calmly and automatically.

Mud Belongs Outside

Eventually the situation will arise where muck ends up inviting itself into the house, particularly where people have been playing or working in the dirt. You may find that it is sensible to try to prevent the detritus that is brought in at the door, and thereby achieving the outcome of reducing the amount of extra cleaning such muddy footprints or dripping coats create. Door mats, and boot scrapers are fantastic for this. Remove dirty shoes and coats asap, and place them in a utility room, or space where wet clothes can be kept, and thus protect the rest of the house from dripping water and mud everywhere.

When you apply these commonsense house cleaning tips, one will reduce the need for that Spring Clean or big annual clean. One will find that if only addressing some of these points a little each day, and having a home cleaning schedule and attempting to do your cleaning as you go, you will realise that home cleaning will be straightforward and easy.

As a Home Cleaning Goddess I love to blog about all loads of great House Cleaning Tips advice for all things House Cleaning.

HOME CLEANING GODDESS

Speed House Cleaning

Speed house cleaning is an art that can most certainly be learned by anyone who would love to clean their home fast. There are a few rules that need to be applied when it comes to speed house cleaning. Once you learn these you will no longer have to spend countless hours keeping your house cleaned.

So what are the different rules that apply to speed house cleaning?

When you are speed cleaning your house you have to begin with a plan of action to how you are going to clean. Many people just start cleaning without ever taking the few moments to figure out what will make it go smoothly.

I was no exception. When I would clean my house I would simply begin picking up and cleaning things. Well what happens when we do this is that we end up basically walking around in circles never really getting things done quickly. I was so bad about it that I would even sometimes stop and just look around wonder what I should do next.

As you can imagine that really wastes a lot of your valuable time. With speed house cleaning you learn what needs to be done in what order to really make the most of your time. So no more staring around feeling lost as to what to do next or going around in circles.

For example, if you have kids you will undoubtedly make a trip to their room multiple times within an hours with random toys that you have come across. This will waste way more time then you realize and dramatically increase the amount of time it will take you to get your house cleaned.

Another thing that really makes you able to do speed house cleaning is by using the right kinds of cleaners for the given job you are doing. Makes sense I'm sure but I was surprised to realize that I was not using the best cleaners for the job so I was actually making cleaning my house harder then I needed to, spending more time, and not getting the house as clean as I could be.

Thank goodness I learned about speed cleaning my home. Life just feels better when I don't have to spend all day everyday cleaning.

I was very lucky and found this great book about speed cleaning so I could learn how to clean my house fast.

6 Helpful House Cleaning Tips That Makes Cleaning Fun and Effective

Let's face it, cleaning our home can be very irritating to the nerves. It is best that you start cleaning from the messiest area all the way down to the least. Make sure that you inspect every area that way you can save a lot of time and your energy as well.

Fourth, gather all the needed house cleaning equipments that you will be using. Mop, rags or dusters, broomsticks are the most needed. Secure them in one place or inside a bin that way it will be very easy for you to pick what you need. If it helps, having a stun gun flashlight will enable you to see dark spots and allows you to stun immediately rats and other pests that you will encounter.

Fifth, in order for you to save more time and effort, remove any unnecessary things before you start cleaning like toys, books, magazines and other stuff that block your way. If the mess is bad enough, you may not even know where to start or what to do! While you might be aware that the important thing to do is just to get started and to let momentum carry you along, you'll find that putting together a good house cleaning checklist is quite important.

With a house cleaning checklist, you'll be able to break down your mess into easy to handle chunks. All of a sudden, it won't be a huge mess that you need to clean up or a large project that will take a lot of time. Instead, you'll find that you are going to be able to break down the housecleaning into small, completely easy to handle chunks that can be taken care of in quite simply.

When you are looking at putting together a house cleaning list, start by creating different areas in your home. Everyone's home is different, and you'll find that getting a printed house cleaning list that tells you to do things like scrub the fireplace when you don't have one is less than helpful. Divide your home up by rooms or areas.

As soon as you have your living space divided up by how many areas are in it, you'll find that you can start figuring out what needs to be done. Head to the rooms in person and look at them critically. What is it going to take to keep the room clean, and what tasks need to go onto your housecleaning list? This is an important part of getting organized. Remember that this list can grow and shrink as necessary.

When you have the list put together, remember that not all of the items are going to have the same priority. This is important to keep in mind when you are putting together a house cleaning schedule. For instance, doing the dishes is probably going to have a higher priority than installing new shelves or refinishing the woodwork. When you want to get the most use out of your house cleaning checklist, remember to keep things in perspective.

A house cleaning checklist should be something that you can put up in the household where it is going to be visible to everyone. Make sure that everyone is aware of it, and take the time to divide up the responsibilities. This is where having a house cleaning schedule can be quite important when you are looking at getting your house clean.

Consider how much time you want to devote to cleaning every day. If there are a number of small tasks on the list, like wash some sheets, dust the shelves or put all books back on the shelf, commit a block of time and do as many of them as possible. On the other hand, if there is a bigger job, say that you will devote a certain amount of time to that task alone.

Remember that when you are looking at putting together a house cleaning checklist and creating a house cleaning schedule that efficiency is the goal. It doesn't really matter how you get there.

Putting together a house cleaning checklist and make sure that you get the results that you are after.

Having a house cleaning checklist can save your valuable time that you probably would want to spend elsewhere. If you need a house cleaning list you can check out http://cleaningsecretsexposed.com to get what your looking for.

In Your House Cleaning Lady Overlooking These Areas in Your Home? - It is Crucial to Keep Them Clean

There are many areas that house cleaners over look when you hire them to clean your home. That is why it is crucial to hire a house keeper with a good knowledge of the house cleaning process. Often times inexperienced house cleaners miss cleaning areas that obviously need to be cleaned.

Baseboards and ceiling fans are often over looked by house keepers. Both of these items tend to collect dust over time. Baseboards are easily missed however they take very little time to clean. Just a quick wipe whit a damp rag as your house cleaner is vacuuming will do the trick. If the baseboards are wood, then the house cleaner should take the time to polish them once a month or so. This will keep them looking nice and shiny. Ceiling fans are easy to keep up with once they have been thoroughly cleaned. A feather duster usually does the trick for weekly cleaning.

Your cleaning lady may also forget to clean your coffee pot and behind your toilet bowl. This is unacceptable, because it is important that these areas be cleaned to prevent the spread of germs! It is important that you communicate with your house cleaning lady that you want these areas clean. It can be helpful to have a house keeper that is fluent in English, so that you can communicate effectively.

Often times door knobs are missed by housekeepers as well. It is important for door knobs to be wiped down with a disinfectant on a regular basis, especially if you have young children. Wiping down the door knobs will remove finger prints from the knobs. Using a disinfectant will help to prevent the spread of germs.

Bathroom mirrors are also one of the things that house cleaning ladies tend to miss or not clean well enough. Bathroom mirrors are best cleaned using a window sprat and brown paper towels. They should be cleaned from top to bottom. Sometimes it is necessary for the cleaning lady to go over the mirror a second time to make sure all toothpaste splatter is removed.

Our service would never leave you will a dull looking bathtub; however many cleaners tend to leave bathtubs dull and gritty. Our service takes pride in leaving a home with a sparkling clean bath tub. We do it right the first time and every time!

Some house cleaners tend to overlook lamps in the bathroom and leave them full of dust and cobwebs. This is ludicrous! It only takes a few minutes to wipe down the lamps and if it is done correctly every time you will never see dust or cobwebs on your lamps.

If you are planning on interviewing house cleaning ladies to clean your home you should check to make sure that they have excellent references. You also want to make sure that the cleaning person is bonded and insured. This will protect you and your belongings while the house keeper is cleaning your house.

If you are looking for a Atlanta Cleaning Lady, don't hesitate to contact us. Not me, and that is why I wrote this article because I love a clean house, I just don't like doing it. My desire to be doing something else other than cleaning means I have mastered the art of cleaning fast, efficiently and with great results. Check out these tips and see if your cleaning chores get done better and faster so that you can get out and have some fun too!

1. How to clean a room properly is the greatest tip. Start cleaning from top to bottom. More importantly, start dusting at the point highest and further away from the doorway of a room. Dust downwards to the floor. When you have cleaned everything in the room, as you have worked your way back to the door, pull out the vacuum and give the floor a clean.

2. Use clean cloths and cleaning tools each time you start to clean. The best idea is to clean all your cleaning tools at the end of each cleaning session. I know this is probably not what you feel like doing right now, but it makes starting your job next time so much better.

3. I love this tip! When cleaning with your cloths fold them in quarters before starting any cleaning task because when one side gets dirty refold it and start again with a clean side. So many people (me included before) scrunch up their cleaning cloths and before you know it dirt is being transferred back onto what you are trying to clean!

4. Lamb's wool dusters are great for those areas where some extra effort can be used. Places like walls, baseboards and wooden blinds.

5. When dusting walls or sides of furniture, dust downwards towards the floor as the dust will fall there and will be picked up by the vacuum. If lamb's wool dusters fill with dust, just give it a hit against your other hand and the dust will fall for vacuuming up at the end of the room cleaning.

6. There may be some surfaces where you can actually vacuum the dust up but to do this make sure that the suction control hole is open as this will reduce the suction at the end of the hose. These areas could be furniture, heavy curtains and the like.

I know many people will dust through a house and then go back and vacuum the house but what happens so many times is that the house gets half cleaned, an interruption occurs, and before you know it, the house didn't finish getting cleaned.

Using the house cleaning tips listed above, and completely cleaning one room at a time, will mean that should you get interrupted in your cleaning chores, at least you will know that particular rooms are finished. It is just a matter then of picking up where you left off knowing that the previous rooms were completely cleaned.

Kaye Dennan has employed cleaners in her businesses for over 25 years and has learnt what works and what does not. So get off your butt and get down to it because your house is not going to clean itself! You can make it go much easier and faster by writing out and following a house cleaning checklist. Here are four reasons why you should use a checklist every time you clean your house.

First of all, you want to make sure that you are covering all the bases and that your house cleaning checklist includes all the chores you need done. Since it is written out it will ensure that you clean all the areas that need to be cleaned. You can also add things to the list or take things away that might not be cleanable because of the seasons.

Also, using a house cleaning checklist every time you clean the house will really speed things up because it will force you to get into a nice repetition of cleaning the same things in the same order. Eventually you wont even need to refer to the checklist and you will speed right through your house cleaning chores like clockwork.

The third reason why a house cleaning checklist is good is because now anyone else who goes to clean the house will know what to do and check off the chores as they go through it. You can even divvy up the chores on the checklist to your entire family so you aren't stuck doing it all by yourself. You won't have to tell the kids and spouse what to clean anymore, just hand them their checklist and walk away with a smile.

Last but not least, you should use a house cleaning checklist every time because even the professional home cleaners use them. You may not be a professional cleaner but that really says something if the people who get paid to clean use checklists. Think about it, these people want to be as efficient and clean as possible because cleaning is their business and they are required to use checklists each and every time.

There you have four legitimate reasons why you should always use a house cleaning checklist when you go to clean your house. It really will help make things much easier if you create a checklist and post it somewhere like the fridge or a pin up board so everyone can see it and refer to it. Create your own house cleaning checklist today and get to cleaning!

Read through a sample House Cleaning Checklist to see what chores you should add to your own. Dust normally builds up at a fast rate in houses and can be very dangerous for those having allergies when it accumulates for longer periods. Therefore, when cleaning every room in the house, it is necessary to use dusting equipment like cloths, feather dusters and lambs wool duster. Cleaners can fold cloths into quarters to avoid dust from spreading to other regions. Lambs wool dusters are for hard-to-clean regions to allow users dig deeper in dusty regions. It is important to purchase stain resistant carpets as compared to the regular ones. However, irrespective of all situations or circumstances, no carpet can be completely stain proof. For instance, in cases of accidents the secret of keeping carpets free from stains is getting rid of spills as soon as they occur. This ensures that the spills do not have enough time for settling into the carpets. Additionally, polishing is preferable as compared to scrubbing when removing spills from carpets. When cleaning such stains, use quality cleaners on the stains and polish until the stains fade away.

The last house cleaning remedy involves cleaning the floor be it wooden or tiled. Taking care of wood is an extensively arguable topic since a number of people think it is necessary to wax and finish, while others think the two are unnecessary. Evidently, most of the wood fittings are readily sealed, making finishing and waxing needless. This means that in case of wood spills, the chances of staining the surface are less. Apart from that, there really is very little more needed than an able body and a few customers lined up in order to start a house cleaning business almost imediately.

Legal house cleaning companies can employ one or many staff members depending on the work load and type of services offered, but many new to the cleaning game often offer a few free jobs in order to get the word out in their immediate areas. There are no special skills or occupational qualification needed to get you going, just a little homework to find out the local house cleaning rates, some kind of house cleaning checklist, and an enthusiastic attitude.

Those people with more of an entrepreneurial streak and a bit of previous experience with cleaning procedures may want to jump in the deep end and take a look at some of the house cleaning franchise opportunities available today. Bigger companies are also able to offer specialist services such as gutter maintenance, clearing blocked drains and pipes, garden preservation, and stain removal from furniture and fabrics.

Because there is likely to be a fair bit of repeat business in this type of service, it's also important to come across as trustworthy and friendly from the outset. At the end of the day, you will probably be working inside people's homes, and once you are able to clinch a house cleaning contract, you may often find yourself a key holder to your customer's properties, so a cheerful disposition will go a long way to build up the trust levels. It will also be useful to have a good knowledge of modern home cleaning products. You may also wish to share a few free house cleaning tips & secrets to loyal clients.

The house cleaning business is definitely on the up, and if this type of work suites you, then you could be up and running your own outfit in just a couple of weeks from now. What other type of business allows you to get going for just a couple of hundred bucks or less?

Lots more cleaning articles including a piece on Home Cleaning Made Easy using the 5 step approach, plus a look at the importance of Cleaning Gloves, and a few tips on how to purchase the right Carpet Cleaning Equipment!. A quick search for "maid" seems to indicate that another large part of the Twitter community wishes they had a maid to clean their house for them. One user states, "I've spent way too much time today cleaning house. I'd hire a maid, but no one else understands where my stuff goes."

Some tweets highlight that Twitter users are cleaning their homes between computer games - including Bejeweled - or while watching television. There are threats of withholding the holiday meal if housemates do not assist in the cleaning. And there are many tweets discussing the fact that the user has been cleaning house for hours.

The reasons for house cleaning seem to range from the fact that the house is a disaster (cleaning for seven hours) to the need to impress, although not everyone is happy about that as seen in this tweet, "Cleaning an already clean house to impress other people. Sucks." Who are these people trying to impress? Well, it appears to be wives, parents, grandparents, friends from out of town, and just about everyone in between. There are, however, some Twitter users who are cleaning their homes to save someone else from having to do it: "Cleaning The House So My Mother Doesn't Have To!"

There are some who are breaking up the housekeeping by hitting the gym or running errands as a break. And there are others who should have taken a break, but did not: "Spent the most of the day at the new house cleaning up. Only fell asleep twice while I was sweeping." During the holiday season, there are many reasons to clean the house and many methods to get it done. It looks like the common thread this year is to tweet about your house-cleaning experiences.

Get a skilled San Diego maid from a San Diego housekeeper company you can trust. For some people this is a real problem and they need some house cleaning tips. Forget spring house cleaning, they don't seem to have the time to keep up with their daily and weekly house cleaning chores. If you want to keep your house clean and save time doing it, one of things you need to do, is prepare a house cleaning list and schedule your house cleaning duties.

If you don't do your house cleaning on a schedule it can become overwhelming when you get around to doing it. Have you ever decided today I am going to do the house cleaning, and wanted to quit before starting? First question is where do you start? Before you get out the rags other essential cleaning supplies, start by making sure that everything is straight and in its place. If you start vacuuming, for example, you don't want to be constantly starting and stopping to move things out of your way. Straighten and pick things up first. Remove magazines other mail and papers from the furniture before starting to dust and polish it. Doing the rest of the house cleaning chores is much easier and quicker once this part of the cleaning is done. So get those small but time consuming tasks out of the way first.

Before you start cleaning a room, gather all the house cleaning products you are going to use in cleaning that room together. Doing this one thing will make the cleaning go so much easier and faster, you won't believe it. You can use a small bin to make it easier to carry all of your house cleaning products around with you from room to room. Some cleaning products that you will want to include in your bin is window cleaner, furniture polish, rags, antibacterial spray, and carpet cleaner and freshener. Vinegar is one of the eco friendly house cleaning products you can use, and cleaning with vinegar is a very effective way to clean almost all surfaces. Some people don't know it but vinegar doesn't leave a vinegar smell and actually deodorizes the air. Also keep a small container or garbage bag handy to put your trash in.

Start your cleaning the room at the top and move your way down to the floor. By getting the cobwebs out of the corners of the ceiling and dusting the top selves first, all the dust is already on the floor before you clean it. Don't be running back and forth from one room to another to clean. Start and finish cleaning one room before starting your house cleaning tasks in another room.

Your friends and other people will notice how clean your home is and admire you because you keep it so clean. Everyone notices immediately upon entering a home whether it is clean or not. A clean home is also much healthier because proper cleaning of your home also disinfects from bacteria and fungus.

Kathrine E. The work wasn't that hard- not as hard as you would expect- but cleaning up other people's dirt wasn't my idea of fun. That was the worst of it. I say it was one of the "best" jobs I ever had because I learned how to efficiently clean my own house. I learned that you can actually clean your house in no time at all...as long as you use some of the secrets of the pros. And that same knowledge has sure helped make my house cleaning easier and less time consuming!
Housework is a fact of life, but it need not consume your life if you just know the secrets of how to do it right.

The first secret you need to know is that you can save an incredible amount of time if you carry some of your cleaning products, as well as tools, with you. To do this, you need to make yourself a supply apron. This apron should consist of several large, deep pockets. (A kitchen apron usually doesn't have enough pockets. Therefore, you can sew up your own apron. Or, you can check your local home supply store for a carpenter's apron.) In these pockets, you will carry your dusting spray, glass cleaner, rags, and so forth.

Before you actually start to clean, you will also need a few soft, cotton gloves, or some old white cotton socks. The gloves or socks make great dusting cloth! And, they can be worn over one of your hands the entire time you're cleaning your house. Just spray some furniture polish on the glove or sock, and it's easy to wipe off tables, woodwork, knick knacks, as you go along.

Here's a second secret: You'll also need to buy some laundry baskets in different colors. Each member of the household needs his or her own basket. Plus, you'll need a small basket to carry with you. (You can buy laundry baskets at your local dollar store for cheap.) Place a laundry basket in each person's bedroom. You'll find out the purpose of the laundry baskets shortly.
Published by Kassidy Emmerson Kassidy Emmerson has studied Journalism, Creative and Non-Fiction Writing and Computer Programming. There's Mom, Grandma, Mrs. Smith next door, Mr. Jones down at the hardware store, and hundreds of books and articles on the subject!
But the single most common reason why major household cleaning efforts fail -- lack of preparation to do the job at hand that leads to frustration, lost time and wasted effort -- is often overlooked in advice columns and how-to books.

As with any other human endeavor, planning pays off. So before you dive in to that unspeakable attic mess or tackle that maze of a kitchen cupboard, consider these six time-tested planning tips to make the task easier ... and even enjoyable!

1. Do something pleasantly different

Instead of assaulting your senses and the environment with a literally dizzying array of cleaning chemicals, consider taking a morning to prepare some herbal and natural cleaning solutions this year.

Some natural disinfectants include rosemary and lemon, and the leaves and stems of thyme and sage. Cloves, lavender, orange, peppermint and sandalwood also have antiseptic powers.

You can use six drops or so of their essential oils, mixed with a teaspoon of isopropyl alcohol and a quart of lukewarm water.

You can also cook up a great smelling, spirit-lifting disinfectant by culling the leaves and stems of rosemary, eucalyptus, thyme, sage or lavender, and letting the mixture simmer for an hour. Simply strain out the solids and let the mixture cool. You'll love the fresh scent and the gentle way the solution cleans your spaces!

The sweet, nutty seeds of the fern-like Sweet Cicely plant can be crushed to yield a wonderfully aromatic natural furniture polish. Pulverize the seeds, then scoop up a handful in a soft cloth and admire the gentle way it coaxes shine from wood!

2. Be alone and enjoy it!

You'd never try to clean a keyboard while someone's typing, or clean your oven while preparing Thanksgiving dinner. It's a mystery why so many well-meaning people think they can clean a room or a closet with other people coming and going!
Published by Kate Sheridan Extensive journalism training and experience; 18 years as a small business ad agency co-owner and creative director; now work/write in peaceful bliss on a 10-acre self-sufficient-ish rural Michigan homestead View profile

View the original article here

How to Use Non-Toxic Cleaners to Clean Your House

There are numerous non-toxic solutions that you can use around the house. Not only is this safer to use but it is great on your budget. To start with did you know that there are many uses for baking soda and vinegar? For example a combination of vinegar and baking soda can be used to scrub your stove and counter tops. You can also use a spray bottle of vinegar and mix with hydrogen peroxide to sanitize your countertops before scrubbing them down. Another use for vinegar is to mix with water and use to wash your kitchen floors. This works really well to clean your floors. Some moms have also used vinegar as a fabric softener. Of course your clothes will not be as soft as store bought fabric softener, but it is better than nothing. Many of these cleaning products are referred to as homemade cleaning products. The fumes from commercial cleansers can sometimes be harmful to young children or those with chronic health problems.
Another tip is club soda which can be used as a glass cleaner, although it will not have that nice fresh scent. You can also purchase non-toxic laundry detergent. It cleans your clothes and is a lot safer for your family. When mixing your own homemade cleaners be sure to use 50% water in all of your mixes. Some moms however do not like to have their house smelling like vinegar. To fix this problem you can add a little bit of lavender oil to your water, vinegar mix prior to cleaning. Make sure you don't put too much lavender it may overwhelm you. When using baking soda to clean your floors sprinkle the baking soda first then add the water and start scrubbing. It really does not take long to clean your floor, but it will definitely get clean. Try searching online for frugal websites, there is a large resource of websites that offer tips and suggestions on how to clean your home with your own homemade non-toxic cleaners. I would also suggest looking at a few books. Your local book store or library should have a large amount of books on this topic. She lovingly raised eight kids on daily home cooked meals while keeping a full vegetable/flower garden, some small livestock, and a spotless house. No one dust-sneezed in her house...ever.
I kept my eye on her as I did my share of chores and watched the secrets of her household success unfold. I've organized what she taught me into a ten-step program that can make basic spring-cleaning a breeze. Some of these tips will keep your house smelling and looking fresh all year long. These are basic spring-cleaning steps but; with the exception of rugs and curtains, this cleaning can be done weekly.

Before you begin, gather supplies. Essentials include:

1. A roomy basket or sturdy box for collecting things that have been "misplaced".

2. A vacuum cleaner or broom

3. A bucket with the following cleaning supplies: (I keep one under my bathroom sink all the time because I'm too lazy to look for supplies each time I need to clean.) Paper towels or a "shammy" (chamois leather is lint free)
Multi surface or window cleaner
Paintbrush -for dusting books and nooks
Toothbrush -for scrubbing stains
Putty knife- removes gum, tar, mud and dried food
Kitchen sized garbage bag- empty individual trash cans and found garbage into it
Spray bottle filled with water and one teaspoon of baking soda
Large damp washcloth or rag.
Furniture polish or stain remover (optional- my family hates the smell)
Toilet cleaner
To save time follow these steps:1. Take down curtains and remove throw rugs in every room and either wash them or send them out to be cleaned before starting spring-cleaning. They hold a lot of pollutants and there is no reason to spring-clean if toxins will remain!

2. Squirt toilets and stains with cleaners and allow it to sit while you do other rooms for additional disinfecting. If you are doing your oven this is also an excellent time to spray it so the chemicals can be working with you.
Published by D.N. Moving into your first home? Lived in your place awhile but can’t seem to get a handle on cleaning the house? Not sure how often you should do it? Or what to do? Can’t afford a maid? As a wife, mother, and former teacher, I can give you advice on the basics of housekeeping.
I grew up in a home with my mother and grandmother. They were both neat freaks. I was the typical messy teenager, and they picked up after me (lucky me!). Then I married and left home and suddenly had a home of my own. And after a couple of weeks, I looked around and thought, “This place sure is messy and dirty!” It was then that I had two thoughts. The first was I am going to have to clean it, and the second was, I have no idea how! You may be thinking the same thing. Housekeeping is not rocket science, but when you have no idea where to begin or when to do what, it can be frustrating. What cleaners do I buy? What else do I need?

The first rule of housekeeping is it’s easier to do your housekeeping weekly. If you are at home during the week, do some each day. If you work, you can get it all done on a Saturday morning, and then not worry about it the rest of the week. So where to begin?

As with any job, you need the right equipment. There are as many brands of cleaners and different preferences to those cleaners as there are people. I can give you some basics, but you may find others you like better. First you need a broom, a dustpan, a vacuum (if you have carpet), some old cloths (old T-shirts work great), a spray bottle of window cleaner, some pine-oil cleaner, a spray bottle of bathroom surface cleaner, some furniture polish, a mop bucket, and a sponge. (I use a sponge with the nylon net sewn on one side for scrubbing without scratching.) You will also need a toilet brush and some paper towels. If price is a problem, some household cleaners can be made. There are many websites that can tell you how to make natural cleaners from products like baking soda and vinegar.
Published by Kathy Reed O'Gorman I have published several short stories in anthologies such as Chicken Soup and Cup of Comfort. One has to carry a heavy, portable vacuum cleaner from room to room, plug it in, and then vacuum the floor. Afterwords one has to empty the bag of dust and other debris, a messy job under the best of circumstances.
While the time when one's house will clean itself is still far off, there is a bit of technology available right now that will make vacuuming the house a lot easier. Just as homes now have central air conditioning and central heating, homes can now, with a little expense and work, have central vacuuming. Oddly enough, these systems have been available for the past fifty years.

How Does Central Vacuuming Work?

A central vacuum system consists of a number of parts. Spaced about the house, each covering about six hundred square feet of floor space, are inlets installed into the wall at floor level. The inlets are connected to tubing that snake behind the walls to a central power unit, in the utility room, basement, or garage, and a central receptacle. One would have a power hose with attached brush or another attachment that would connect to each inlet in turn for vacuuming. Each inlet might also have a built in dust pan so that one could just sweep dust and other debris into the inlet, best in rooms like kitchens which do not have carpets on the floors.

After the receptacle, which would be either a canister or bag, is full, one would just empty it unto the trash, which manufacturers claim would happen about once every three months. The system is controlled either by an on/off switch on the hose or by just attaching the hose to the inlet, obviating the need to turn on the central power unit every time one goes to a new room. The brush that is attached to the end of the hose is used to loosen dust and debris from a carpet being cleaned.

Types of Central Vacuums
Published by Mark Whittington Mark R. They are going to stop at the store first and then come over so it will be about 40 minutes until they arrive. But, your house is a wreck, so what do you do? Well, it's obvious that you need a really quick clean up, but you don't have the time. In 15-20 minutes you can clean up your entire house and still have time to put on lipstick or get dressed. When surprise company calls it can put you into a tailspin, but not if you have a good plan.
So what's the big secret? Even if your closets and rooms behind closed doors are full of crap you home can still appear to be clean. The secret is that no one has to know about the crap. Part of your plan will be to clean the "guest" areas of your home, and the trick is to hide everything else. Remember when you were a kid and your parents told you to clean your room but you wanted to play? So you stuffed everything under the bed and in the closet so that your room appeared to be clean in just minutes. This is the same technique.

Here's a list of the things you will need before you start your quick clean up:

• Duster
• All purpose cleaner and paper towels
• Broom/Vacuum
• Basket or Laundry Bag
• A Damp Sponge

The first thing that you want to do is grab your basket or laundry bag and start walking through your home as a guest would do. Start at the front door and work your way through each room, just as your sister and her children will do. As you walk through each room pick up the clutter and put it in the bag or basket. Pick up shoes from the entry way, junk mail in the kitchen or dining room, grab the clutter in the living room like toys or dirty dishes, and then hide the basket in the bottom of a closet or behind a bedroom door until after your guests leave. This should take about 5 minutes, unless you have a really large home and now you are ready to clean the rest of the house.
Published by Rachel Pickett Rachel is currently an Admin service manager for FedEx Ground. We feel like it is a real chore, when really, there are a few simple ways to get it done. They may seem a little odd, but the best ideas usually are. (How else do you think your favorite Aunt kept her house so good looking, with all those kids running through it? Because after all, she had other things to do besides clean all day.) Let's discuss an area that can make a clean room look cleaner, or worse, still dirty. That area would be the floors. They are walked on, spilled on, and serve as a catch-all for pretty much anything. Especially carpets, which can be in even worse condition. If removing them is not an option, nor is covering the whole thing with rugs, here are three simple techniques to make keeping it cleaner, easier.

Tip 1. A tape roller lint brush works great on stairs and in the corners. In a pinch, wrap masking tape around your hand a few times. The attachments you have don't always reach where they are needed most. They may be missing. Whatever the case may be, go over those hard to reach areas as you would with a vacuum. Run the brush in several directions. Just as the tape gets hair off of your clothes, it does an equally fine job on carpets.

Tip 2. Use an iron and plain paper towels to remove candle wax. If your paper towels have printed designs, use notebook or typing paper. You will also need a butter knife. After scraping the big pieces out of the way, some wax will still be embedded in the fibers. The heat from the iron will pull a great deal of it up and out. The paper will trap it. Use a medium to hot setting (no steam) and place the paper down on the wax. With firm, even pressure, hold the iron on the paper a few seconds then remove it. Continue, changing the paper as it soaks up the wax. (It is important to get the wax out of your carpet but not at the expense of your iron.) Once the paper comes up clean, there is no more wax in the carpet. There may be a little color left, in which case it is the actual dye from the candle, and that would better be tackled by a professional. (Professional cleaning is also advised for heirloom carpets and rugs.)

Page:12Next Page »PrintFlagClosejQuery('#flag_link').bind('click.ajaxload', function(){jQuery('#flag_response').load('/action_flag.shtml?flag_login=1&view_flag_menu=1&redir=%2Farticle%2F6103%2Funique_carpet_cleaning_tips.html');});Published by Wilma JeanWilma Jean graduated from college with BS in Fashion Merchandising in 1993. The good news is a clean home can easily be achieved if you follow a few tips from the professionals. While taking night classes at a business school I worked as a professional maid during the day to pay for my expenses. I found that if you have what you need close at hand and an orderly plan of attack, even the largest homes could be a breeze to clean.
The first time you use this method to clean your house you will essentially be priming your house for all future cleanings. You will find from week to week each cleaning session will be come shorter and shorter.
What You Need
The first thing you need is a really good vacuum cleaner. The company I worked for supplied us with lightweight vacuums that sit on your back much like a backpack. It weighs only eight pounds and was very easy to use. These vacuums cost close to a thousand dollars each so they are not realistic for everyone. Just make sure your vacuum has a hose and wand attachment that will reach up to your ceiling and has enough suction for your needs. Some vacuums work well until you try to use an attachment. Buy the most powerful model you can afford. If anyone in your family suffers from allergies you may want to get a model that has a more efficient filtering system than the typical model.
Published by Amy Mullen Amy lives in upstate New York.
